2018 CAMP RESILIENCE SESSIONS
MST Retreat: November 13-16,2018
Camp Resilience held a retreat that focused on MST. During this retreat our veterans attended sessions on 'ST and Relationship', 'St and the Internal/External Experience', 'Sacred Vessels Experience', 'Sacred Vessels I/E in Relationship' and group exercises. The veterans also enjoyed a rock climbing session at EVO Rock and Fitness in Concord, NH, solving logic, math and other puzzles at Escape Hour House in Gilford, NH and a team building session at the NH Fire Academy in Concord, NH
Equine Retreat: October 19-21,2018
Camp Resilience held a retreat at the UpReach Therapeutic Esquestian Center for our veterans. The veterans attended a couple of mindfulness sessions along with sessions with horses. The sessions with the horses included herd observation and taking notice of the different 'horsenalities', horse brushing and grooming, trail walks, carriage driving and round pen activities.
Retreat for Couples : September 13-16, 2018
We had a weekend retreat for couples with either or both members a veteran. The couples attended sessions on "Communications", "Financial Health", "Fair Fighting, Promote Intimacy" , "Wounded, Coping and Talking", " Back in Time" and "Putting it Together". The couples also enjoyed a scenic hike, sailing on Lake Winnipeasaukee and the Aerial Treetop Adventure at Gunstock Recreation Area.
Retreat for OIF/OEF Women Veterans: August 7-10, 2018
We held a retreat for our woman veterans. The veterans attended sessions on Trauma Resilience, Changing Beliefs and Perceptions, Female Vet Challenges/MST, Guided Meditation and Next Steps . Veterans also enjoyed kayaking, a hike, and an Aerial Treetop Adventure at Gunstock
Retreat for Veterans with Substance Dependency: July 9-12, 2018
We held our first retreat for veterans with substance dependency in July. The veterans attended workshops on Social Skills, Moral Injury, Overcoming Addiction, Understanding Addiction and the Brain, Mindful Eating, Anger Management, and Next Steps. The veterans also enjoyed kayaking, a hike, and the Aerial Treetop Adventures at Gunstock.
Adaptive Sports Retreat: June 4-7, 2018
We held our first Adaptive Sports retreat with the help of Northeast Passage. Despite the uncooperative weather, the veterans were able to learn about PTSD and Moral Injury, Mindfulness and Meditation, Financial Management, and more. In addition to the workshops, the veterans went to the Escape Hour House, did archery with Northeast Passage, yoga with Yoga from the Heart and water aerobics. Once the weather cleared, the veterans were able to go sailing with the Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association.
Family Retreat: May 18-20, 2018
The PRLI was excited to hold our first Family Retreat for Veteran and Military Families in collaboration with the National Guard Family Program. During this weekend retreat, families learned to improve the way they communicate, respect and support each other, work and play together, express affection and affirmation, and build family resiliency. In addition to the workshops, families worked together to solve the problems at the Escape Hour House and went for a hike on Locke's Hill.
Equine Assisted Learning Retreat: April 13-15, 2018
In April, we ran an Equine Assisted Learning Retreat at the Live and Let Live Farm in Chichester, NH. During this weekend-long retreat, veterans built relationships with rescued horses. This Equine Retreat allowed the veterans and the horses to heal together. In addition to building a relationship with the horses, the veterans were able to interact with and help name kittens who were brought to the farm during the retreat.
Collaborative Retreat with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing: March 6-9, 2018
We ran our first collaborative retreat with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing (PHWFF). During this retreat, our veterans built their own fly fishing rods and reels, and learned about Moral Injury. The veterans also went to the Escape Hour House, hiking on Pine Mountain and along Lake Winnepesaukee, and went skiing at Gunstock Mountain Resort.
Women's-Only Retreat: February 13-16, 2018
In February, we ran our 4th Women's-Only Camp Resilience retreat. This retreat was run by women for women. The veterans learned about communication, financial management, WHAM, and mindful eating. In addition to the life-skills workshops, the veterans also participated in outdoor experiential learning/sports activities such as the Escape Hour House, a winter hike on Pine Mountain, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Gunstock Mountain Resort, yoga, and water aerobics.
Winter Retreat: January 9-12, 2018
We ran a Camp Resilience retreat designed to help veterans with PTSD. This retreat featured iRest, a proven and effective approach to using yoga nidra meditation and deep relaxation techniques to overcome trauma. There were also workshops on coping skills (wellness) for adding more happiness and wellness to one’s life and enhancing one’s resilience. In addition to workshops, the retreat included challenging team-building activities at the Escape Hour House and sports activities like snowshoeing on Pine Mountain, downhill skiing at the Gunstock Mountain Resort, yoga, and water aerobics.
